HIGH-SPEED RAIL

LDK Engineering has participated in several leading North American High-Speed Rail projects, including;

ACELA EXPRESS - AMTRAK High-Speed Trainsets

Provided support to Bombardier Inc. in the development and submission of technical and marketing proposals for the Amtrak ACELA EXPRESS High-Speed trainsets for the Northeast Corridor.
Technical support included performing all necessary train performance and energy consumption analysis for the proposals. Conducted studies on track forces for High-Speed locomotives and developed the specifications for the braking system for the trainsets.
Conducted instrumented testing and field inspection support for the vehicles.

Assisted the Texas TGV Consortium with the development of technical sections of the proposal submitted to the Texas High-Speed Rail Authority.
Responsible for comparing the design specifications of the French technology with current and proposed North American Regulations and was the primary Consortium contact with the Federal Railroad Administration on regulatory issues related to the rolling stock.

Involved in the North Americanization studies of the French TGV High-Speed Rail technology.
Provided technical support to the Bombardier/Alstom Consortium during the Ontario-Quebec Rapid Train Task Force studies

Responsible for developing technical sections of the successful proposal submitted by the FOX Consortium for the development of the Florida High Speed Rail System.
Headed the FOX technical team that petitioned the US Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for a Rule of Particular Applicability for the FOX High Speed Rail system. The proposed safety rule addressed the design, operations and maintenance of the complete system safety (including rolling stock, track, right-of-way, electrification, signaling and communications). This work included the preparation of proposed rule text and extensive submittals and testimony before the FRA and Industry.
Provided in-field support for the design and selection of the right-of-way for the FOX system. Performed extensive Train Performance Simulations using in-house programs to evaluate route and equipment selections.

Assisted the FLOUR / Bombardier team in the development of a successful proposal to the Florida High-Speed Rail Authority (FHSRA) in the areas of System Safety, and Operation and Maintenance.
