 LDK Engineering Inc. is a professional engineering company providing a variety of design, project management and testing services. Specializing in the railway-engineering field, our Burlington Ontario based firm has provided clients with high quality engineering services since its formation in 1982. Our background in railway engineering includes extensive regulatory involvement and safety standards development. We have broad experience in rail vehicle design and maintenance, including specific strengths in railway truck designs, suspensions, ride quality, brake systems, wheel/rail interaction, stress analysis, custom machine design, failure and metallurgical investigations, industrial and production engineering, and hydraulic system design. Our many years of hands-on experience in the design and implementation phases of rail projects allow us to bring a practical perspective to resolve design, maintenance and operational problems. We have provided these services to railways, carbuilders and component manufacturers.
We are actively supporting the rail industry in safety related issues including fire safety and emergency preparedness. LDK is a North American leader in the technical design aspects of high-speed rail systems, and have affiliations with major high-speed rail operators and equipment suppliers in Europe and North America.
We have had involvement in numerous railcar and rail system procurements from both the perspective of the equipment and system providers, as well as the end users or operators.
Several in-house software programs have been developed to support engineering efforts in the areas of train performance, including train propulsion, braking, and route analysis. Specialized programs have also been developed to model and predict the crash behaviour of vehicles. Computer based zone-fire modeling is also available, including emergency egress estimations. LDK also provides engineering support and services using ANSYS®, an industry recognized Finite Element Analysis and modeling tool.
